Biosolids Working Group
In 2016, SOWC initiated the Biosolids Working Group to support our efforts to create a strategic area of focus on minimizing volumes of, and generating value from wastewater biosolids. Ontario is home to leading technologies and globally recognized academic expertise in this area. With increasing priorities for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and recovering resources from waste, there is a tremendous opportunity for leadership and successful economic growth. Learn more about the Working Group and the key initiatives that we have undertaken to support this innovation ecosystem.
Municipal Net Zero Energy Wastewater Working Group
Building on the work of the Biosolids Expert Working Group, SOWC has hosted two events in partnership with Ontario Clean Water Agency focused on opportunities for “net zero energy” wastewater in Ontario. This has helped us to engage with interested municipalities, and in 2018 we began hosting a Municipal Working Group. The group of municipal CAOs, wastewater managers and other decision-makers convenes regularly to share progress on projects and opportunities for “net zero energy” wastewater.
